Karen McJunkin
Founder and President
Karen founded Couloir Ventures, and its build-for-rent brand, FrontDoor Communities in 2019. Karen focuses on acquisitions, market analysis, investment strategy and financing for Couloir.
Karen is an experienced executive in the residential for-sale and rental industry, with over 35 years of experience in all aspects of the mixed-use and residential development process across the DC metro region. . During her time at Elm Street Development as a regional partner, Karen has sourced and developed over 70 projects, totaling 10,000 units over 9 jurisdictions.

Karen received a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina Keenan Flagler School.
Matt McJunkin
COO
Matt is responsible for Couloir’s day-to-day operations, including development and construction management, asset management, and due diligence.
​
Prior to joining Couloir Ventures, Matt spent 5 years at Buchanan Partners in a project management role. During his time at Buchanan, Matt managed the design and construction of a 275-unit multifamily project along with the development of multiple residential for-sale projects throughout the DC area.
Matt received a B.A. in Economics from Sewanee and an M.S. in Real Estate from Georgetown University.
Tucker Fife
Senior Finance Manager
Tucker oversees the financial analysis and reporting for all of Couloir's projects, while also assisting with the day-to-day development management.

Prior to joining Couloir Ventures, Tucker spent five years at Branagh Development, a Bay Area infill developer and general contractor. Tucker focused on transforming underutilized urban sites into thriving multifamily, mixed use, and commercial projects. He excels at crafting innovative financial strategies that unlock value, mitigate risk, and drive successful outcomes from due diligence to disposition.
Tucker has a B.A. in Mathematics from Wake Forest University.
